The ten best Indian films of 2005

4. Hazaaron Khwaishen Aisi

Director: Sudhir Mishra
Cast: Shiney Ahuja, Chitrangda Singh, Kay Kay Menon
The review

Why it makes the cut: Because of Chitrangda, honestly. The film is worth it just for the remarkable leading lady. Mishra, however, gives us much more with a gripping story, and an elegiac look at the 1970s and dreams of a Revolution gone sour.
