9. And yet more water woes

Never before has the monsoon created such havoc for Indians as it did this year.

In Tamil Nadu, about 80 passengers were killed when two buses were washed away in floods in Ramnathapuram and Thanjavur districts on November 26.

The vigorous northeast monsoon tormented Tamil Nadu, killing 247 people in the state last month.

Torrential rain returned in December, killing 21 people and rendering thousands homeless in Andhra Pradesh.
