"Yes, I do have a duplicate voter's ID card, but what's the point if others who have left the state can't vote and the state government can't provide adequate protection to Christians living in the district?" asks Ilyas.
He says a case was filed against those involved in arson and murder post August 23, "but the culprits are still roaming freely."
The other day, he says, "I saw 'him' (one of the accused) in the Raikia bazaar." Ilyas had gone there with a Central Reserve Police Force jawan to buy medicines.
Most of the refugees only move out of the camps to buy daily essentials under the protection of CRPF personnel because the local Hindu population is still hostile to them.
