Paul Reiffel claimed his 100th wicket when he captured the wicket of Saeed Anwar. He was playing in his 87th match. He now becomes the seventh Australian and the 47th bowler in LOI history to do so.

Inzamamul Haq's 81 was the highest by a Pakistani in the WC against Australia. The previous highest was 76 by Aamer Sohail at Perth in the 1992 WC.

The partnership of 118 runs between Abdur Razzaq and Inzamam ul Haq was Pakistan's best for the fourth wicket against Australia in the WC. The previous best was 112 runs between Javed Miandad and Imran Khan at Lahore in the 1987 WC.

The partnership of 32 runs between Wasim Akram and Moin Khan was Pakistan's best for the seventh wicket against Australia in the WC. The previous best was 20 runs between Javed Miandad and Salim Yousuf at Lahore in the 1987 WC.

Moin Khan's unbeaten 31 runs in just 12 balls (S/r: 258.33 runs per 100 balls) was the fastest innings (in terms of strike-rate) in WC history. The previous fastest was by Englishman Graham Dilley when he scored 31* in 14 balls (S/r: 221.43) against New Zealand at The Oval in the 1983 WC.

The partnership of 91 runs between Mark Waugh and Ricky Ponting was Australia's best for the 2nd wicket against Pakistan in the WC. The previous best was 82 runs between David Boon and Dean Jones at Lahore in the 1987 WC.

Moin Khan's catch of Mark Waugh takes him past the tally of 164 dismissals of South African Dave Richardson. Moin, at the end of the match has a tally of 166 dismissals in 124 matches and now occupies the number three posiiton among wicket-keepers with maximum dismissals in LOIs. Australian Ian Healy with 233 dismissals and West Indian Jeff Dujon with 203 dismissals are the only keepers ahead of Moin.

The partnership of 113 runs between Steve Waugh and Michael Bevan for the fifth wicket was Australia's best against Pakistan in the WC. The previous best was 60 runs between Greg Chappell and Ross Edwards at this same venue in the 1975 edition of the WC.

Wasim Akram's 4-40 was the best bowling by a Pakistani against Australia in the WC. The previous best was 3-21 by Aaqib Javed at Perth in the 1992 WC.

Wasim Akram has now become the highest wicket taker in WC history when he claimed the wicket of Glenn McGrath. He now has 35 WC wickets in 25 matches which obliterates fellow Pakistani Imran Khan's previous record tally of 34 wickets in 28 matches.

The ten-run victory was Pakistan's narrowest in terms of runs in the WC.

This was Pakistan's eight win in its last ten LOI matches, while it was Australia's fifth loss in its last ten LOI matches.

It was Inzamam ul Haq's 16th Man of the match award in his 185th match of his career. It was also his second in a WC match.
