Dravid in Performers' Eleven

Steve Waugh's efforts in leding Australia to the final have been recognised by the tournament sponsors, who put out an eleven of performers from the World Cup.

The eleven were picked by journalists covering the World Cup.

Steve Waugh is the only Australian in the team. But that could be because the polling was done before the semi-finals, in which Shane Warne and Saeed Anwar were winners of the Man-of-the-Match awards.

Rahul Dravid, still the top scorer in the World Cup, is the only Indian to be picked. There is, strangely, no place for the most exciting bowler of the World Cup, who surely is Shoaib Akhtar.

The World Cup Performers' XI is: Herscehlle Gibbs, Neil Johnson, Rahul Dravid, Jacques Kallis, Steve Waugh (captain), Jonty Rhodes, Moin Khan (wicket-keeper), Lance Klusener, Saqlain Mushtaq, Allan Donald and Geoff Allott.
