Kalpana Morparia

Morparia is joint managing director of India's second-largest bank, ICICI Bank.

She heads ICICI's corporate centre, which is responsible for ensuring strategic consistency between the bank's business units on a group-wide basis and to lead group-wide strategic initiatives. She is also ICICI's official spokesperson.

A law graduate from Mumbai University, she joined ICICI in 1975 as a senior legal officer. In 1996, she was promoted to general manager in charge of the legal, planning, treasury and corporate communications departments.

In 1998, she was appointed senior general manager and was responsible for the financial major's human resources development, planning and strategic support group and special projects departments.

In 2001, she was appointed executive director.

She was conferred the Women Achievers Award in the Field of Finance & Banking (1999) by the Indian Merchants Chamber (Ladies Wing).
