Australia finally celebrate a well-deserved win after confusion over the finish of the match.
Sri Lanka were set a revised target of 269 off 36 overs under the Duckworth-Lewis system after rain halted play for 12 minutes during their run chase.
The Sri Lankan batsman accepted bad light at the end of 33 overs, which meant an Australian victory. But the umpires brought the festivities to a halt saying the three overs would have to be bowled.
With the Sri Lankan batsmen ready to play in the darkness, Andrew Symonds and Michael Clarke rushed through the remaining overs to offically seal the title.
