Bangladesh national team coach Dav Whatmore will quit at the end of May, the Bangladesh Cricket Board said on Friday.
"Whatmore has decided not to renew his contract, which ends in April 30, but has agreed to coach the team in May when India visit Bangladesh for a three one-day and two-Test-match series," a statement of the BCB said.
Bangladesh beat India in the group stages of the World Cup in the Caribbean to advance to the second-stage Super Eights but only managed a victory, over South Africa, in their six subsequent matches and missed out on a semi-final berth.
Sri Lankan-born 53-year-old Australian Whatmore had earlier expressed an interest in the India post following compatriot Greg Chappell's resignation.
Since taking over after the 2003 World Cup, Whatmore has led Bangladesh to 33 wins in 88 one-day internationals and coached the side to a first Test victory, against three draws and 21 defeats.
