Galbraith receives his Padma Vibhushan

Lalit Mansingh with Prof J K Galbraith  
India's Ambassador to the United States, Lalit Mansingh, handed over the Padma Vibhushan Award to noted economist Professor John Kenneth Galbraith in Boston on Tuesday.

The Padma Vibhushan, India's second highest civilian award, was conferred on Prof Galbraith for his immense contribution to the strengthening of bilateral ties between India and the United States.

Prof Galbraith, who is known internationally for his development of Keynesian and post-Keynesian economics and for his active involvement in American politics, served as US ambassador to India from 1961 to 1963.
