The Bangalore pub is a unique institution. Unlike a British pub,
a Bangalore pub is a kind of glorified restaurant which serves
hard drinks. The atmosphere, especially on weekends is loud and
cheerful and the clientele remarkably varied. Family groups, young
men and women, businessmen, tourists, students and anyone else
who can afford it can be seen at any of the city's pubs. Although
most of the upmarket restaurants also serve drinks, the pub hoppers
feel it's not quite the same.

is the haute spot. With garage-chic decor, loud music,
beer on tap, and a stiffish price tag.

Nasa, 1/4, Church Road: Decor straight out of outer
space. Karaoke, MTV. And beer, on tap.
Orion Club, Residency Road: The Rigel bar of this tony club is open to the public. Very posh environs.
Pub World, Residency Road: It's four pubs in one.
Decor differs, the fare - music, video, draught beer - remains
pretty much standard.

Open from 1100 hours to 2300 hours. Charges: Rs 100 per game on weekdays and Rs 125 on weekends and holidays. G's has four lanes. Alcohol is not served. Tibetan and Chinese snacks and fast food is served with soft drinks.
