Beach volleyball is a huge crowd-puller sport. The event at the London Games was no different. Record crowds gathered over the last week to enjoy the action and skimpy outfits on view.

In the run-up to the Games, British media coverage of the sport focused on whether the women players would wear bikinis if it rained. The implication was that if they covered up, the game would lose much of its appeal.

Fortunately, the weather did not play spoilsport, and spectators were treated to the sight of tanned and toned bodies.
