Heeding the desperate urges of their coach Tervor James Morgan, East Bengal picked up a win at the right time as they beat Mumbai FC 2-0 in a 16th round match of the I-League in Kalyani's Municipal Stadium, Kolkata on Sunday.
A day ahead of the match Morgan had expressed concern at the lack of enterprise that was pulling East Bengal out of the league race. The win got the Kolkata side back on the course. Edeh Chidi (11th minute) and Lalrindika Ralte (53rd minute) were the two East Bengal scorers.
Fakhruddin Amiri pulled down Chidi inside own box for a 85th minute penalty. Chidi missed the mark sending the ball wide from the spot to keep the score-line unchanged.

Shillong Lajong might consider themselves unlucky. Despite being the dominant side on the pitch for the most of the match, they ended up sharing points with Dempo Sports Club, in Shillong, after a goalless draw.
However, Lajong have to blame themselves for missing numerous chances. They failed to convert as many as four open chances in both the halves. They were poor with the set-pieces as well as they wasted all the six flag kicks they got.
