Reigning Australian Open boys' champion Yuki Bhambri has pulled out of the French Open due to the ankle injury he sustained while playing doubles in an ITF Futures event in Kuwait last week.

Yuki, who became the first Indian to win the Australian Open boys' singles and fourth from the country to claim a junior Grand Slam, said he had been advised by doctors to take rest for at least 15 days to recover from his injury.

"My ankle is a bit swollen and I am having problems in running. I can play with ice packs on but it may get swollen further. It's better not to aggravate the injury," Yuki said.

"Definitely it's disappointment you don't get many chances to play in a Grand Slam. Hopefully, I will be fine soon," he added.
