It’s that time of the year. Yes, it's when the transfer window opens and speculations go into overdrive.
So far, the summer transfer news – speculations or otherwise – has generated much tabloid space. Except for the likely Dani Alves move, no other signings called for much attention.
But on Thursday, June 22, the transfer news section just exploded.
With names of players, both, big and upcoming, and their possible moves, this is the day made by the gods of football.
The morning began with reports of Bayern Munic’s Polish striker Robert Lewandowski making his big move to Manchester United.
As the day progressed, Twitter was abuzz with rumours of Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe’s possible big switch to Arsenal.
But the 2nd half of the day certainly brought life into the summer transfer news with the possible move of star striker Cristiano Ronaldo to ‘greener pastures’ out of Real Madrid.
Last week, Ronaldo, who has been summoned in the tax defrauding case, expressed his desire to move out of the Spanish club following the tax scandal, and now according to Spanish media, after being linked with a return to United, the club he left in 2009, Ronaldo now has offers from top clubs in France and China.
Spanish daily Marca says Paris Saint-Germain have offered Ronaldo a deal worth around 176 million pounds.
PSG apparently sees money as “no object” when it comes to the prospect of signing Ronaldo.
Chinese Super League clubs are also showing interest in bringing one of the top stars of soccer to Asia, where he has a big fan-following.
So with these two big prospective ‘offers’, Old Trafford may, in most likelihood, not be Ronaldo’s calling.
