Indian beats were heard during a National Basketball Association (NBA) match played between Charlotte Hornets and Miami Heat, played on Sunday.
Cheerleaders danced to Ghoomar, a song from the Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed film ‘Padmaavat’.
The NBA posted a video of the dance on its Facebook page on Tuesday and it went viral.
"Revisit the mesmerising moment when the sights and sounds of Ghoomar from ‘Padmaavat’ took over Charlotte," the NBA wrote along with the video.
Over 1 million views and 2,500 shares were recorded in a single day.
'Padmaavat' has been a political hot potato in India with the Rajput community claiming that historical facts in the film have been tampered with.
Fringe groups, including the Shri Rajput Karni Sena, staged protests demanding a ban on the film.
The movie was, however, released on January 25 despite the protests.
