Boxer Vikas Krishan won a bronze medal for India after his Mexican opponent Daniel Echeverria was disqualified midway into the men's 60kg class third-place play-off in the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore on Tuesday.

Krishan was leading 15-3 when Daniel started hitting him below the belt in the third round and was disqualified.

The World youth champion Indian was leading from the start. He led 6-1 after the first round and 12-2 after the second.

Vikas had taken three points in the third round before his opponent started hitting below his belt.

"It was a easy win. I wasn't too aggressive. I was leading 15-3 when in frustration, he started hitting me below the belt and was disqualified," Vikas said.

In the only other sport in which Indians competed on Tuesday, the table tennis players won once and lost twice in their Group E mixed team league matches.

The Indians defeated Sri Lanka 3-0 but lost to Hong Kong and Thailand 0-3 and 1-2 respectively.

With the bronze from Vikas, India's medal tally at the Games swelled to seven -- five silver and two bronze.

The five Indian silver winners are Pooja Dhanda (women's 60kg freestyle wrestling), Durgesh Kumar Pal (boys 400m hurdles), H S Prannoy (badminton) and Arjun (discus throw) and Yuki Bhambri (tennis).

Kadian Satyawart (men's 100kg freestyle wrestling) is the other Indian who won a bronze.

On Wednesday, boxer Shiv Thapa will take on Cuban Robeisy Eloy Ramirez in the bantamweight final.
