Rohit Bisht scores grand treble

Delhi's Rohit Bisht completed a brilliant campaign when he clinched the boys' under-16 and under-14 titles, in the All India National Series and Maharashtra State Ranking Tennis Tournament 2007, co-sponsored by DHFL and IOCL, which concluded at the Practennis courts, in Andheri, Mumbai, on Saturday.

Seeded No. 7 in the under-16 category, Bisht overcame an early setback and rallied to a 1-6, 7-5, 6-2 victory over No 3 Samip Mehta of Gujarat.

He capped a magnificent run in the tournament when as the No. 1 seed in the under-14 category he beat Digvijay Singh of Himachal Pradesh 6-4, 6-2.

He and Digvijay Singh had claimed the e under-14 doubles crown on Friday following a 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory over Vishwesh Sinha and Tushal Thawani.

Fifth seed Rashmi Teltumbde of Maharashtra was the surprise girls' under-16 winner after beating Carol Augustine of Delhi, while girls' under-14 top seed Shweta Rana of Delhi lived up to her reputation following a straights sets triumph over No 2 Sharon Paul of Tamil Nadu.

Girls' U-14: 1-Shweta Rana (Del) bt 2-Sharon S. Paul (TN) 6-3, 6-4. Doubles: Sansitha Nandkumar/Natasha Palha bt Teertha Iska/Bhavana Suresh 6-0, 6-2.

Boys' U-12: 1-Rohan Bhatia bt 7-Nikhil Kannan 6-0, 6-0.

Boys' U-10: 1-Nikhil Passi bt 2-Nikhil Kannan 6-3, 6-4.

Girls' U-12: 1-Snehadevi S. Reddy bt Bharati Bylapudi 6-1, 6-0.

Girls' U-10: 1-Nandini Das bt 2-Harleen Wadhwa 9-2.

Boys' U-8: Sunish Dhruv bt Vastin Thakkar 6-3.
