Pankaj Advani's India 'A' team went down crashing 2-7 to England at the World Snooker Team Championship in San Jose, USA, on Tuesday.

Advani, selected for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, was not in the best of form as he went down 74-65, 36-70, 18-56 to Michael Rhodes in the second match.

Earlier, national champion Manan Chandra was also defeated by David Lilley 77-32, 7-19, 45-106.

Yasin Merchant fared no better, thrashed 29-73, 48-111, 21-66 in the third and last tie as England consolidated their chances of winning the men's title in the tournament.

Isle Of Man secured their first victory in Group A, crawling back from a 3-4 deficit to overcome the United States 'B' 5-4.

However, the Indian 'B' team, comprising Rafath Habib, Siddhartha Rao and Aditya Mehta, continued its juggernaut, routing South Africa 9-0.

Habib carved out an impressive 72-33, 61-21, 85-51 victory over Mike Hines in the first match. Rao stamped a 61-25, 72-32, 61-34 win against Rahik Limbada and Mehta completed the rout, scoring 74-9, 53-38, 86-18 win over Ryan George.

However, the highlight of the day remained Phaithoon Phonbun's break of 133, the highest so far in the championships, as Thailand crushed USA 'C' 9-0.

It was a day when all three American teams suffered big losses. Team A lost to China Hong Kong 7-2.
