India's Elavenil Valarivan took home the silver medal in 10m Air Rifle event of Summer Universiade in Napoli, Italy on Thursday.

Taiwan's Lin Ying-Shin took bronze with 225.2 points.

"I am really thrilled with this achievement and really want to thank all my coaches who have trained me so well and without their correct guidance, this would not have been possible. I am happy and this win will give me great confidence going ahead into the Junior World Cup, Suhl," a delighted Elavenil said.

"I am proud of Elavenil and her achievement shows how talented she is. She is part of Project Leap and has over the years shown great progress with all the training and coaching that she is undergoing as part of this ambitious nurturing programme. She is a great shooter and I believe she has all the ingredients required to become a champion shooter," Narang, founder of GNSPF, said.

Valarivan will be seen at the ISSF Junior World Cup 2019, in Suhl, Germany, which is scheduled to start from July 12.

Lonato Shotgun Worlds: India's male trap shooters disappoint on Day 1

The trio of Indian trap shooters -- Kynan Chenai, Prithviraj Tondaiman and Zoravar Singh Sandhu -- produced a below-par show, drawing a blank in the men's individual event of the ongoing ISSF Shotgun World Championship in Lonato, Italy.

Kynan was India's best in the men's individual trap event, shooting a score of 118 out of 125 in the qualifying to finish 19th on the opening day of the competitions on Wednesday.

Prithviraj and Zoravar finished far behind in the 47th and 91st spots respectively with scores of 116 and 111.

Great Britain's Matthew John Coward-Holley won the men's trap gold with a final round score of 45.

The silver medal was bagged by Italian Mauro De Filippis, who ended with 39 hits while Kuwat's Khaled Almudhaf won the bronze.

While India failed to open its account on the opening day, USA is leading the medals tally with three gold medals.
