Heavy rains lashed Mumbai on Wednesday and the fury of Mother Nature spared none.

One among them was out-of-favour India hockey striker Yuvraj Walmiki.

Yuvraj’s house was flooded with rain water and he tried to scoop out ankle-deep water from his house with a dust-pan, with little success, as the water kept flowing back in.

Yuvraj, 30, was part of the Indian team that played in the 2014 World Cup at The Hague in the Netherlands.

His brother Davinder Walmiki also represented India as a defender.

A red alert has been issued for extremely heavy rainfall for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region as heavy showers continued for over 24 hours.

The IMD has forecast spells of more heavy to very heavy rainfall for Thursday.
