Punjab thrashed Manipur 3-0 to start their campaign in the quarter-final league of the 67th Santosh Trophy National Football Tournament on a winning note in Kollam on Saturday.
In another match at Kochi, Odisha defeated Madhya Pradesh 3-2.
In the match between Punjab and Manipur, Rohit scored the first goal in the eight minute before Gagandeep Bali doubled the lead in the 32nd minute. Captain Surjit Singh completed the rout, scoring in the 74th minute of the game.
In the second match, 31-time winners Bengal defeated Karnataka by a solitary goal, with Nabin Hela scoring in the 32nd minute.
Abhimanyu Pandey (62nd), Mohammad Ehsan Khan (79th) and Sanjit Panna (injury time) scored for Odisha, while Phurba (67th) and Javed Manihar (82nd) found the net for Madhya Pradesh.
