India's Saina Nehwal thrashed Olympic silver medallist Yihan Wang of China to storm into the semi-finals of the All England badminton championships in Birmingham, on Friday.

Saina registered a convincing 21-19, 21-6 victory against former World champion Wang in just 39 minutes at the Barclaycard Arena.

The first game was evenly contested before Saina sneaked ahead towards the end to clinch it 21-19 but she was dominant in the second game as she conceded just six points to run away with an easy victory.

In the semi-finals, she will take on another Chinese in Sun Yu, who progressed after her opponent Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand had to retire with injury in the third and final game with the scores on 11-21, 21-19, 19-13.
