True to their consistent form, the India sailors finished with a rich haul of five gold medals, two silver and four bronze to finish on the top of the medals table on the final day of the Asian Sailing championship in Mumbai on Tuesday.

With the light winds dying down abruptly yesterday, most of the races were postponed for today.

The hosts' first gold came in the 420 Open category when favourites Farokh Tarapore and Vikas Kapila put up a magnificient show followed by Rajesh Choudhary's consistent run, despite finishing fourth in the last race, in the Laser full rig category.

Pallavi Naik and Rohini Rau finished first in the 420 girls (under-19) category while Naresh Yadav and G L Yadav got their country the fourth gold with a fine triumph in the

Enterprise category. Nitin

Mongia rounded off the tally in the O K Dinghy category.

The silver medals came through Sanjeev Chauhan and Rajesh Dhulaji in the 420 open category after they tied with the Korean pair Park Jongwoo and Lee Dongwoo for the second spot. However, by virtue of better overall points they won the silver.

The second gold came through Ramkumar Singh in O K Dinghy category while the four bronze medallists were Ninad Mayekar and Prasad Shelar in 420 boys, Shilpa Oberoi and Neha Maheshwari in 420 girls, Amit Arvind in Laser Radial and Derryek Menezes in windsurfing heavy men.

Japan finished second in the medals tally with two gold, three silver and one bronze while China finished third with two gold, one silver and three bronze medals.
