Cristiano Ronaldo has been involved in a new row with Real Madrid manager Rafael Benitez, according to reports in the Spanish media.
The reports claim that the Portuguese striker was left fuming and walked out of the room after he was asked by Benitez to undergo a biometric analysis in order to improve his free-kick scoring rate.
Last week, Ronaldo scored his first free-kick in just over six months as Madrid eased to an 8-0 win over Malmo in the Champions League.
But Benitez’s request has been met with anger by Ronaldo, and the relationship between the Madrid boss and the club’s biggest star has now been worsened.
The relationship between Ronaldo and Benitez has been under stress since reports emerged last month that the three-time Ballon d’or winner was unhappy with the tactics employed by the ex-Liverpool boss.
Ronaldo reportedly had also said that ‘the club will win nothing with Benitez at the helm’
The Los Bloncos have had a torrid season under Benitez thus far, as they lay five points behind league leaders and arch-rivals Barcelona.
Real had also suffered a 0-4 thrashing from the Catalan giants in November this year, which had raised serious doubts on the managerial skills of Benitez.
Ronaldo’s free-kick success rate has decreased dramatically over the past couple of seasons, while set-piece experts like James Rodriguez and Gareth Bale have often had to step aside for the superstar.
However this latest incident in a trouble season is likely to add to the misery of Benitez, Ronaldo and Real Madrid as a unit.
