Double Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar has insisted that his participation in television reality show MTV Roadies is not going to affect his preparations for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
The senior wrestler will be competing in 74 kg Freestyle category and faces stiff challenge from compatriot Narsingh Yadav, who has already booked his Rio berth by bagging a bronze medal at the World Championships in Las Vegas.
Sushil Kumar will be seen judging and mentoring a team of four members in MTV Roadies X4. However the 32-year-old wrestler said that nothing can come in between his duties for his country.
"When I spoke to the team of Roadies, I just said one thing to them that my priority will remain the nation and I would like to thank them that they have been giving me time for my training.
“Sports reporters have been asking me a lot about my training but I assure there will be no leniency from either my end or from the Roadies end for the Rio preparations," said Sushil Kumar.
