Young Indian swimmers Sajan Prakash and Shivani Kataria, as expected, made inglorious exits from their respective events at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro on Monday.

In the 200m Butterfly heats, Sajan finished 41st in a field of 43 swimmers, in terms of timing.

Sajan finished a disappointing fourth among five swimmers in his 200 metres butterfly event.

Shivani finished 28th out of 29 swimmers in the 200m freestyle, finishing second among three in her heat.

Starting in lane 3, Prakash clocked 1 min 59.37 seconds in his heat – the timing not enough to take him through to the next round.

The heat was won by Simon Sjodin of Sweden, who clocked 1 min 56.46 seconds, while Robert Zbogar of Slovakia came second 1 min 57.05 seconds.

Gal Nevo of Israel was third in the heat in 1 min 58.64 seconds.

In the third heat, the legendary Michael Phelps did not exert himself, finishing third with timing of 1 min 55.73 seconds. The best timing in the heats was clocked by Tamas Kenderesi 1min 54.73 seconds.
