President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday congratulated tennis ace Sania Mirza for winning the season-ending WTA Finals women's doubles title.

"I am extremely delighted and proud that you have won the doubles title at the WTA Finals in Singapore," the President said in his message.

"Your achievement is an inspiration for the youth of our country. The whole country joins you and your family in celebrating this impressive achievement," the President added and wished her continued success in all her future endeavours.

Sania and her Zimbabwean partner Cara Black ended the season and their partnership on a remarkable high by clinching a comprehensive triumph in the summit clash of the season finale on Sunday.

Sania and Cara, making their debut at the year-end championship, prevailed 6-1, 6-0 over Su-Wei Hseih of Chinese Taipei and Shuai Peng of China in a clash that lasted just about an hour.
