Pallikal clinches California Squash Open

India's top woman squash player Dipika Pallikal has brought to an end the spectacular run of Egyptian qualifier Yathreb Adel to claim the Orange County Open in Irvine, California.

World No. 24, Pallikal overcame stiff resistance from Adel to win 11-6, 12-10, 11-9 in exactly one hour to clinch her first WISPA title of the year.

Dipika PallikalThe top seeded Indian had claimed her expected place in the final of the $ 9,000 WISPA event with a 3-1 demolition of Japan's Misaki Kobayashi in the semifinal while Adel had stunned seven-time US champion and second seed Latasha Khan in the other last-four match.

The Chennai girl won the tournament without conceding a single game on Sunday.

In the quarters, she had defeated fifth seed Siyoli Waters 3-0 while in the first round, she had ended the challenge of Kristen Lange of USA with an identical scoreline.
