Leander Paes and Martin Damm displayed superb co-ordination to shock second seeds Jonas Bjorkman of Sweden and Max Mirnyi of Belarus and move into the men's doubles semi-finals at the Australian Open in Melbourne on Tuesday.

The seventh seeded Indo-Czech pair, who beat Mahesh Bhupathi and Wesley Moodie of South Africa on Monday, dropped the first set, but staged a brilliant recovery to win their quarter-final 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 at the Margaret Court Arena.

Paes and Damm will take on the unseeded Polish pair of Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski in the semi-finals. They beat the US-Australian pair of Justin Gimelstob and Ashley Fisher in another quarter-final.

There was more cheer for India as Sanam Singh, the country's highest ranked junior and third seed in the singles, also advanced after a 5-7, 6-0, 6-4 victory over local lad Todd Ley.

Sanam also advanced in the doubles, as he and Jeevan Neduncherhiyan lived up to their top billing, beating the Belgian duo of Ruben Bemelmans and Frederick De Fays 6-1, 7-5 in the first round of the Junior boys' doubles.
