Indian tennis star Leander Paes, who recently completed his career Grand Slam, was on Sunday chosen for 'Legend of Sport' award by NDTV, which announced the Spirit of Sport awards in New Delhi.
Late cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and just retired footballer were given Lifetime Achievement Award.
Six sports-persons were chosen for India's Outstanding Achievers -- boxers Vijender Singh and Mary Kom, footballer Sunil Chettri, racer Karun Chandhok, cueist Pankaj Advani and shuttler Saina Nehwal.
There were 16 categories overall with Bollywood actress Bipasah basu getting the Fittest Bollywood celebrity.
"It's a real honour to be part of Marks for Sports campaign. Kids should be encouraged towards living a dream," Paes said.
Karun Chandhok, who drove form Lotus in 2011 in F1 before shifting to World Endurance Race, said,"F1 racing Delhi was tremendous achievment about 1 lakh people watching. The popularity of the sport is growing. As Leander had said, it's important for kids to dream."
Young India cricketer Virat Kohli was chosen for Generation Next of Cricket award, said, "Delighted to be given this award. 2011 has been a great year for me. I would like to perform consistently for India."
