Kunjarani Devi is likely to be awarded the fourth place in the women's 48 kg weightlifting event following a positive drug test returned by Aye Khine Nan of Mayanmar, who had finished fourth in the Olympic Games competition held on Saturday.

Kunjarani, who lifted 190 kg (82.5+107.5) to tie with Khine, had ended up fifth because of a higher bodyweight. The Indian weighed 47.78 kg while the Mayanmar lifter was 47.48kg.

An official announcement to this effect is awaited.

The 27-year-old Khine was found to have taken an anabolic steroid, according to the International Olympic Committee.

She said she had been taking a herbal remedy on a regular basis and that the team doctor had not fully checked its contents.

An IOC spokesman said that the doping test had been carried out on Thursday, the day before the Games opened.

Her fourth place finish in Saturday's competition has been declared null and void.
