AC Milan dismissed manager Filippo Inzaghi on Tuesday after a disappointing season in which the side finished 10th in Serie A and failed to qualify for Europe.
Milan have appointed Sinisa Mihajlovic on a two-year-deal.
Serbian Mihajlovic, had stepped down as Sampdoria coach earlier this month.
Inzaghi, who spent 10 years at the club as a player, struggled throughout much of a campaign that brought their lowest number of wins since 2001 and his future at the San Siro had long been questioned.
"AC Milan communicate that Filippo Inzaghi has been discharged of his responsibilities as first team coach. The club thank him for his work," the club said in a statement on their website.
