The Indian pair of Leander Paes and Sania Mirza were down 5-7, 2-3 in their mixed doubles tennis quarter-final against the Belarusian pair of Max Mirnyi and Victoria Azarenka when play was suspended for the day because of bad light.

Games went with serve in the first set till Paes-Mirza were broken in the 12th game. With the score on 5-6, Sania-Paes paid the price for an unforced error which gave the Belarus duo the
set in 47 minutes.
In the second set, the Indian pair broke the Belarusian pair in the third game, but the top seeds returned the break in the next to level the scores.
When play was suspended due to bad light, the service was with the Indian pair.
