The youngster from Manipur notched the highest score of the World championship when he over powered his Mexican opponent Velazquez Joselito in the pre-quarter-finals and went on to book a berth to London.
His sister, a former boxer was his first coach and his inspiration. The pugilist was named 'Best Boxer' at the Federation Cup held in Goa in 2011.

From lightweight (60kg) he moved up to welterweight (69kg) category and sealed his ticket to the London Olympics by winning a bronze at the World Boxing Championships in 2011.

The mother-of-two generally fights at light-flyweight (48kg) category but had to increase her weight make it to the flyweight (51kg), so that she can participate in the Olympics.
