India's Joshna Chinappa crashed out of the US $53,500 WISPA British Open Squash Championship in Manchester after being humbled in the qualifiers by Fiona Moverley of England.

World No 35 Joshna lost 12-10, 10-12, 11-7, 11-9 to Moverly, who is ranked 16 places below her, in the first qualifying round of the World Tour Gold event.

The British Under-23 champion, who recorded the biggest victory of her career, was obviously ecstatic after stunning her fancied Indian opponent.

"She's (Joshna) the highest-ranked player I've ever beaten," said Moverley.

"I've only played her once before and she beat me comfortably. But I'm a lot fitter now and I felt a lot more confident that she'd make the errors before I did.

"I thought I had every chance of getting a result, but I didn't underestimate her," added the 22-year-old.

Moverley will now play world number 26 Line Hansen of Denmark in the final qualifying round. The Dane outplayed Emma Beddoes of England 11-4, 8-11, 11-6, 11-6 in the opening round.

With Joshna's ouster, India's challenge also ended in the women's division as no other Indian features in this category.

However, world number 32 Saurav Ghosal will carry forward India's challenge in the US $92,500 PSA men's division. He takes on second seed Gregory Gaultier of France in the opening round.
