Ace Indian golfer Jeev Milkha Singh crashed out of the Volvo World Matchplay Championship after successive defeats to Camilo Villegas and Ross Fischer in Casares, Spain.

The highest ranked Indian golfer, first from the sub-continent to qualify for the elite tournament, could not build on his stunning first round win against Lee Westwood.

In his second Group D match, Jeev went down to Villegas by three holes before losing narrowly to Fisher by a solitary hole and crashed out.

The match against Fisher was closely fought even though the Englishman hit gold in a three-hole stretch, firing back-to-back eagles and went four-up after 10 holes.

Jeev birdied the 11th, 14th, 16th and 18th holes to reduce the gap but it was not enough in the end.

Sixteen men started out on the road to glory but after the first two of the four days, only four men – American Anthony Kim, Australian Robert Allenby, Angel Cabrera from Argentina and young Englishman Ross Fisher -- remain in hunt for Sunday's final and the US $1.1 million first prize.
