World number four Jelena Jankovic beat Spain's Anabel Medina Garrigues 7-5, 6-2 to reach the final of the Andalucia Tennis Championships on Saturday.

The Serbian second seed, by far the highest-ranked player remaining after Wednesday's shock exit of world number one Serena Williams, will be aiming to win her first title of the season when she meets Carla Suarez Navarro in Sunday's final.

Former world number one Jankovic was made to work hard by fourth seed Medina Garrigues on the clay in Marbella.

The Olympic doubles silver medallist, ranked 20 in the world, broke Jankovic four times but the Serb sealed victory with her seventh break of the Spaniard's serve from 15

attempts.

"I'm feeling good and I am happy to be in the final," Jankovic said at a news conference.

"Today was a tough match and especially that first set was very important for me to win. Second set I played quite well as well so a good win for me."

Spanish fifth seed Suarez Navarro battled past Romanian teenager Sorana Cirstea 6-2, 6-7, 6-2 in the other semi-final.

"There were moments when I was enjoying the match hugely and others where I was suffering a lot," Suarez Navarro, the world number 34, told a news conference.
