India take day one honours

Pawan Xalxo and Dola Banerjee reigned supreme in the men's and women's recurve sections respectively in the qualification round of the Asian Grand Prix archery in Dhaka on Wednesday.

Xalxo and veteran Dola stood first in their respective sections after the archers shot 72 arrows over 70m.

Xalxo shot 672 points ahead of compatriot Kapil who had 664 points.

Dola was best with 647 points, ahead of Belsari Narzary who had 638 points.

Bijay Rai was second best in the mens compound, while Asrita Kerketta finished fourth in the women's section.

Results (only Indians):

Recurve men: Pawan Xalxo 672 points (1st), Kapil 664 (2nd), K Shiva Shankar 661 (3rd) and Tarundeep Rai 651 (6th).

Team India 1987 (1st).

Recurve women: Dola Banerjee 647 (1st), Belsari Narzary 638 (2nd), L Bombayla Devi 630 (3rd).

Team India 1951 (1st).

Compound men: Gokul Tamuli 676 (4th), Amrinder Singh Sidhu 676 (5th) and Chungda Sherpa 674 (6th).

Team India 2039 (1st).

Compound women: Asrita Kerketta 672 (4th), Priyanshu Kachhap 670 (5th), Sumanlata Murmu (659 (6th), S Jayalakshmi 651 (8th).
