Sixteen athletes supported by Olympic Gold Quest represented India at the London Olympics and four of them --" shooters Vijay Kumar (silver) and Gagan Narang (bronze), boxer M C Mary Kom (bronze) and shuttler Saina Nehwal (bronze) -- returned with a medal each.

Others like Parupalli Kashyap (badminton), Devendro Singh (boxing) and Vikas Gowda (shot put) also performed beyond expectations and showed that they have the class to make a mark on the big stage in the near future.

The splendid showing of the abovementioned athletes validated the concept of OGQ, which was founded in 2007 by former billiards and snooker ace Geet Sethi and badminton icon Prakash Padukone to support talented Indian sportspersons in their quest for Olympic medals.

While OGQ and the abovementioned athletes bask in their success, much credit is due to the commitment of its CEO, Viren Rasquinha, who personally supervised every activity, ranging from funding to training of athletes, tracking coaches and arranging for equipment.

Rasquinha will be on Rediff.com's Zara Bol chat on Friday, August 24, at 1500 IST. Join in discuss what went right, and wrong, for India at the just-concluded Games.
