Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has reportedly told a Red Devils' fan at Dubai's Burj Al Arab hotel that he was never going to leave the club.

Rooney broke his silence when the United supporter confronted him in the seven-star hotel's lobby.

The supporter is said to have asked Rooney: "Do you feel you've let down United fans?"

Wayne RooneyThe 25-year-old striker said: "No."

He then explained that he had no intention of ever leaving Old Trafford, despite days of turmoil over rumored moves to rivals Manchester City or Real Madrid after he said United lacked ambition, the Sun reports.

It suggests that his management team, led by agent Paul Stretford, stoked up the furore which ended in him staying at United on 150,000 pounds-a-week

It was earlier reported that Rooney has been advised by his Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson to toast his new contract with wife Coleen away from the spotlight.

Ferguson hopes that the 20,000 pounds, four-day trip to Dubai will protect his star from the death threats he received in the wake of his threat.

The couple checked into a two-storey suite at the hotel complete with a butler and the use of a Rolls Royce limo.

The complex is on its own island connected to the mainland by a private road. It has two of the world's finest restaurants, its own beach and a mall of boutiques.
