Lalpekhlua Jeje and Sony Norde scored spectacular goals to hand Mohun Bagan a 2-0 win over Bengaluru FC in a round eight clash of the Hero I-League football tournament at Sree Kanteerava Stadium, in Bengaluru, on Saturday.

This was Bagan's first win over the hosts in Bengaluru.

Bengaluru dominated the proceedings till the 73rd minute, playing attacking football. Home team skipper captain Sunil Chhetri and dangerous Kim Song Yong turned out to be a threat for Bagan defence by winning aerial duels and making off the ball runs.

However, the visitors turned the tables around in the last 15 minutes when Jeje turned inside the box to kick the ball past Amrinder Singh to give Bagan the lead.

Bagan then doubled their lead through Norde who collected a pass and sent another shot past goalkepeer Amrinder in the four minute of extra time.

With this win, Bagan have 15 points from six games and went up the points-table to take top honours, leaving Bengaluru on the second spot.

Shillong Lajong FC drew goalless with hosts Aizawl FC in the first leg of the Northeast I-league derby at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Aizawl.

This was the first-ever Northeast I-league derby played in Aizawl in front of thousands of football fans in the capital of Mizoram.

The crowd had high expectations but the match did not reach the dizzy heights they had expected.

It was the home team that played well throughout the first half of the match. They had their opponents defending majority of the half with the ball mostly played in the Lajong half of the pitch.

Aizawl FC started the second half brightly with a lot of creative attacking play. The home team maintained the same momentum like the first half and were creating a lot of problems for the Lajong defenders.
