I-League: Autchouet's 'trick puts Churchill atop table

Churchill Brothers surged to the top of the I-League ladder for the first time after securing a comfortable 6-0 victory over Shillong Lajong FC in their tenth round I-League encounter at the Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, on Saturday.

Roberto Mendes da Silva opened the scoring with a penalty in the 29th minute, followed by a Lalrindika Ralte strike. The second half saw a flurry of goals when ND Opara added his name on the scoresheet before striker Henri Autchouet's scored a second half hat-trick.

The comfortable victory helped Churchill take their tally to 23 points, two more than Dempo, who have a match in hand against Air India on Sunday.

Sporting Clube hold Mohun Bagan

Sporting Clube de Goa struck a goal through a penalty to hold Mohun Bagan 1-1 in a tenth round I-League encounter at the Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata on Saturday.

The evenly-contested match saw both the teams playing a goalless first-half before Syed Rahim Nabi gave the home side a 73rd minute lead.

But in a space of seven minutes, Sporting Clube equalized when Kalu Ogba Nnanna converted a spot kick to earn a point.

Mohun Bagan now have 20 points, while Sporting Clube have 13.

Chirag United Kerala defeat Prayag United 2-1

A brace by David Sunday helped Chirag United Kerala produce their first home win of the season and edge out Prayag United SC 2-1 in a tight encounter in the tenth round of I-League at the University Stadium, Trivandrum.

Yusif Yakubu struck for Prayag to reduce the deficit.

The win earned Chirag eight points and Prayag are sitting on 17 points after 10 rounds.
