Fashion statements from Roland Garros...

Paris is the fashion capital of the world and tennis apparel brands are ready to turn heads with style statements at the French Open.

Take a look:

The mother of one arrived at the 2019 French Open making another fashion statement. Last year at the French Open, Serena sported a specially designed Nike catsuit.

This year, the 10th-seeded American returned to the tournament wearing another statement look for her match. She wore a custom performance outfit by Virgil Abloh for Nike involving a black and white two-piece with a matching cape printed with 'Champion', 'Queen', 'Goddess' and 'Mother' written in French.

The three-time Roland Garros champion is looking to emulate Margaret Court who claimed 24 majors spread across the amateur and professional eras.

Ashleigh Barty

The Australian eighth seed is not known for her extravagant outfits, preferring to let her tennis do the talking, but she made an impression on both counts as she began her French Open campaign in style on Monday.

Barty was far too good for American Jessica Pegula, winning 6-3, 6-3 on Roland Garros's so-called bullring court kitted out in a black and white striped zebra kit.

'I think it looks pretty good against the clay,' Barty told reporters of her new Fila kit.

'It's very cool. I think it pops.'

'I picked it up and I was like, "Oh wow!" Obviously when I put it on, it's not as out there as I thought it would be. But I'm happy to wear whatever.'

The 23-year-old Queenslander has enjoyed a good year so far, reaching the quarter-final of the Australian Open, then claiming the best title of her career in Miami.

Simona lit up Roland Garros when she stepped out in a figure-hugging print top and flex skirt.

Inspired by a classic French design, the new Nike collection features bold floral, bee and hand-drawn toile prints.

'A toile print depicts pastoral scenes of skeletons amid tennis-specific details, including a served ball, a dapper spectator and more,' Nike said in a statement.

Naomi Osaka

Nike recently wooed the World No 1 away from Adidas and Naomi will get her own personal line and logo.

Naomi has three sponsor logos on her attire, two on the top and one on the visor. No other Nike sponsored player has this clause in their deal; the look usually needs to be 'clean'.

Garbine's top with mesh panels is designed to give the power player's Roland Garros dress an airy and feminine feel.

Fila's collection for Roland Garros draws inspiration from its archives in Italy, utilising the brand's classic hues of red, navy and white.

Kiki Bertens and recent Italian Open winner Karolina Pliskova both sport the classic Fila Heritage Collection.

The ever flamboyant Bethanie's Roland Garros outfits are inspired by comics, offering a superhero-themed print with sapphire and neon coral accents and, of course, her trademark knee-length socks.

Lotto representative Elise Mertens wears an eye-catching zebra print. The dress features a thin mesh racerback and feminine contrast ruffle inset at the extended skirt's back.
