Ashley Jackson's late goal helped Ranchi Rhinos beat Delhi Waveriders 1-0 in their second outing in the Hockey India League match, in Ranchi, on Monday.
Jackson sounded the board in the dying minutes as defending champions Rhinos escaped with a thrilling victory after they had narrowly lost to Uttar Pradesh Wizards 2-3 in their first match.
Custodian Francisco Cortes, who won the man-of-the-match award came up with three stupendous saves, including two back-to-back saves, to thwart Waveriders from scoring as the match was deadlocked till the last minutes before the final hooter.
In the evenly contested match, Rhinos got two penalty corners while the Waveriders failed on all their three chances.
