News of all that's transpired on and off the football field
Paris St Germain began their Ligue 1 title defence in style with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Caen on Sunday, with goals from Neymar, Adrien Rabiot and Timothy Weah.
Brazil international Neymar, making his first appearance in Paris since suffering a season-ending foot injury in February, struck in the 10th minute after midfielder Christopher Nkunku ran on to a stray pass from Caen goalkeeper Brice Samba and released the forward.
Adrien Rabiot then tapped the ball into the net in the 35th minute to double the lead with fellow midfielder Angel di Maria providing the assist from inside the penalty area.
Substitute Weah, the son of former PSG forward and Liberia President George Weah, got his maiden league goal late in the match to the delight of new PSG boss Thomas Tuchel who took charge of the club for the first time in the league.
New PSG signing Gianluigi Buffon enjoyed a memorable debut for the club as the veteran goalkeeper, who joined from Juventus in the close season, made two important saves in the first half.
PSG rested Kylian Mbappe, Edinson Cavani and Marco Verratti with Tuchel handing league debuts to three 19-year-olds in Colin Dagba, Stanley N'Soki and Antoine Bernede. PSG finished the match with six players on the field aged under 20.
Earlier, forwards Bertrand Traore and Memphis Depay got on the scoresheet as Olympique Lyonnais beat Amiens SC 2-0.
Ibrahima Sissoko and Nuno da Costa scored as Strasbourg beat 10-man Bordeaux 2-0 in another match. Bordeaux centre back Pablo was shown a red card in the 14th minute of the match for a poor challenge on Strasbourg forward Ludovic Ajorque.
Liverpool's Lovren out for up to three weeks with pelvic injury
Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren will be out of action for up to three weeks, having aggravated a pelvic issue during the World Cup, manager Juergen Klopp said.
Lovren returned to Merseyside last week after helping Croatia to the World Cup final but has been unable to train with the first team.
"He is not fit. Let me say it like this, last year he already had a few problems with that but he could obviously play - and played really good," Klopp told reporters after Liverpool beat West Ham United 4-0 in their Premier League opener.
"Now in the World Cup, (playing) three times (for) 120 minutes it got a bit worse, but I am pretty sure it will settle in the next one, two or three weeks.
"In that time he can probably for sure train already, but not the full programme, so that will then take time."
