Germany's holding midfielder Sami Khedira will miss their Euro 2016 semi-final against hosts France on Thursday after he sustained an adductor muscle injury in their quarter-final win over Italy, coach Joachim Loew said on Monday.

Khedira, who had played in every match of the tournament so far, was taken off early in that game after overstretching during a challenge for the ball.

"Sami Khedira won't play for us on Thursday. We will do everything for him to be available for a potential final," Loew told reporters.

Germany are already without suspended Mats Hummels and injured striker Mario Gomez, out for the rest of the tournament after also being injured against Italy.
