Manchester United provisionally went top of the Premier League after Marouane Fellaini scored two goals either side of Juan Mata's opener and Romelu Lukaku's record-equalling strike in a 4-0 rout of Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Mata fired United ahead in the third minute and Lukaku netted in the 86th for his seventh goal in his first seven Premier League games for the club to equal the Andy Cole's record.

United have 19 points from seven games, three more than second-placed Manchester City who were playing champions Chelsea later. Palace suffered a seventh straight defeat without scoring and remained rooted to the foot of the table.

Mata produced a fine finish after he was set up by Marcus Rashford before Fellaini converted perfect crosses by Ashley Young and Rashford before Lukaku netted his 11th goal in 10 games for United with a simple tap-in.

Two more for Kane as Spurs hit four at Huddersfield

Harry Kane

Harry Kane's stunning September continued with two goals, including a brilliant solo strike, in Tottenham Hotspur's impressive 4-0 Premier League win at promoted Huddersfield Town.

The victory lifted Spurs into third place in the table ahead of this weekend's games and marks the first time the club have won their opening four away games since their 1960-61 double-winning campaign.

For Huddersfield, the loss was a reality check for a side who had kept clean sheets in four of their previous six matches and have made a promising start to life in the top flight.

Kane, who now has 13 goals for club and country this month including a Champions League hat-trick at Apoel Nicosia, opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a confident finish after robbing hesitant Town defender Chris Loewe.

While the home crowd roared on the forward bursts from David Wagner's team, Spurs looked a threat every time they advanced with Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli's clever touches opening up space for Kane.

That trio combined down the right with a neat move for the second goal with Eriksen's attempted cross turned into Ben Davies' path by the unfortunate Loewe and the Spurs full back slotted home.

Kane fired a warning shot with a blast just over the bar before his spectacular second put the game beyond Huddersfield inside 23 minutes.

The England forward left two defenders for dead on the edge of the penalty area with a clever body swerve and fired an unstoppable shot into the corner.

There was still time before the interval for Alli to hit the post from close range and Kane to have an effort ruled out for offside while Huddersfield's Belgian striker Laurent Depoitre crashed a shot against the bar.

That was an indicator that the Yorkshire club were not going to roll over meekly and they stuck at their task well in the second half while the visitors took their foot off the gas.

But it was an indicator of the quality shown by Kane in that devastating opening period that when he was substituted with three minutes remaining he was given a standing ovation from the home fans.

Spurs added a fourth in added time when substitute Moussa Sissoko finished off a counter-attack after good work from Son Heung-min and Davies.

Bournemouth frustrated in draw with Leicester

Bournemouth were unable to take advantage of their greater possession and chances in a 0-0 draw with Leicester City that kept them in the Premier League's bottom three.

Jermain Defoe hit the bar for the home side in the second minute but that was as near as they came in a typically low-scoring meeting between the clubs. Their five Premier League games have produced only five goals.

Leicester improved a little in the second half but created few chances, Japanese striker Shinji Okazaki missing one of the best.

Leicester striker Jamie Vardy, who England agreed could miss next week's internationals to rest a troublesome hip, played from the start but had a quiet game.

Late Crouch winner earns Stoke first victory since August

Substitute Peter Crouch scored a late winner as Stoke City beat Southampton 2-1 on Saturday to claim their first Premier League victory since August.

The imposing former England forward poked home from close range in the 85th minute, 15 minutes after coming on, to seal only the second victory of the season for the Potters.

Captain Maya Yoshida had appeared to rescue a point for Southampton after he fired home a 75th-minute equaliser to cancel out Mame Biram Diouf's headed opener in the 40th minute.

Stoke's Sadio Berahino missed a first-half penalty to extend his goalless streak to 30 games, while Southampton's Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk -- who submitted a transfer request in the summer -- made his first start since January.

"I am very pleased to get the goal and it was backs to the wall at the end. It's very nice to come off the bench and get the winner," Crouch told the BBC.

Richarlison header earns Watford a point at West Brom

A late injury-time header from Richarlison sealed a dramatic comeback for Watford as they held West Bromwich Albion to a 2-2 draw in the Premier League on Saturday.

West Brom went ahead at the Hawthorns with striker Salomon Rondon scoring his first league goal of the campaign, before defender Jonny Evans doubled the lead with a header from close-range.

The visitors responded with a left-footed strike from midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure in the 37th minute after a neat layoff from Richarlison.

Marco Silva's Watford dominated the possession in the second-half but failed to create meaningful chances until Richarlison scored from a Jose Holebas free-kick in the fifth minute of injury time.

Doucoure, who claimed his third league goal of the season, believes his team's fighting spirit came to their rescue late in the match.

Sakho's last-gasp goal gives West Ham victory

West Ham United substitute Diafra Sakho scored a dramatic 89th-minute winner to secure a 1-0 Premier League victory over Swansea City on Saturday.

Sakho was one of two players brought on with 10 minutes remaining, a tactical switch that paid off for West Ham manager Slaven Bilic and brought relief and three points to the home side.

West Ham striker Andy Carroll hit the crossbar five minutes from time before Sakho stole in at the far post to lift West Ham out of the relegation zone.

The goal was the first Swansea have conceded away from home in the league this season and defeat left them in the bottom three.

"It is a relief, a great three points for us," Bilic told the BBC.
