According to English daily, Mirror, Rooney's fate will be decided by how he reacts to a meeting over a meal between Moyes and the player's advisors, where the new manager will set out the vision for his team.
Sources close to Moyes are still hoping to find a solution that allows the striker to stay, after the new manager officially began his job on Monday, the report said.
The report added that Alex Ferguson had offered him a suggestion about time being ripe for Rooney after what he claimed was a second transfer request submitted before the end of last season.
Meanwhile, the English striker has said that he prefers to play in a central striking role for the Old Trafford club, and would be happy to either play wide in a three-man forward line or at the front of the midfield.
