If you are a football fan, particularly of the English Premier League, you are bound to 'follow' your favourite club on Twitter.

Considering the massive traffic generated by discussions among EPL fans preceding and following Premier League and FA Cup matches, the micro-blogging site has created an interactive map detailing which teams dominate each country, and where loyalties lie.

And the graphic has thrown up a few surprises.

In a blog released by Twitter, late Tuesday, “the map was created by looking at the official Twitter accounts for each team, using their followers as an indicator of allegiance (as opposed to instances in which people mention a team while watching an interesting match-up or talking about a team’s rival).

The infographic reveals Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United are the top four clubs with most Twitter followers.

While Liverpool dominates in the UK, followed by Manchester United, Arsenal has most followers in Africa and South America.

The results are not quite the same for India, though.

United is the most popular club in India, with 27 percent followers on Twitter.

Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal comes in second, with 23.02 percent followers from India and they are closely followed by Liverpool, at 20 percent.

Current league leaders Chelsea don’t seem to have a big fan base in the country, with just 16.68 percent Twitter ‘junkies’.

Even Pakistan's numbers are similar to that of India.
