Australia's hockey legend Jamie Dwyer and Luciana Aymar of Argentina created history by winning the FIH men's and women's Player of the Year award for an incredible fourth and seventh time respectively.

The FIH Player of the Year awards ceremony took place at a gala dinner during the FIH Congress and Forum, which is currently taking place here in Montreux (Switzerland), on Friday.

Dwyer, who helped Australia win the World Cup, Champions Trophy and Commonwealth Games gold earlier this year, had retained the title and have now surpassed the Netherlands's Teun De Nooijer, who won it thrice.

It was Dwyer's fourth FIH title, having won the award in 2004, 2007 and last year.

In the women's section, Aymar, who won the award for a record seventh time, helped Argentine hockey girls round off a stunning year with triumphs in the Champions Trophy tournament and the World Cup in her home city of Rosario.

Apart from these two titles, Germany's Tobias Hauke and Zhao Yudiao of China won FIH Young Player of the Year Awards in the men's and women's sections respectively.

Incidentally, no Indian was nominated for this year's FIH Player of the Year Award.
